About Rosetta

Rosetta J. Jamieson-Thomas, Jamaican Author and Educator

I am a Jamaican writer and educator living in Roselle, New Jersey, USA. I work in New York as an administrator at YAI-National Institute for People with Disabilities, and I attend Second Baptist Church, Roselle, whereRosetta J. Jamieson-Thomas I participate in various church ministries including teaching Sunday school, editing the Sunday School newsletter, and facilitating the Christian Writers' Group. I hold degrees in English, education and creative writing. I am a member of Christian Writers Fellowship International and I volunteer as an Autism Ambassador with NJCOSAC.

I was born in Jamaica where I grew up on a small farm in Westmoreland. Here I acquired my love of the outdoors, enjoyed the simple pleasures of gardening, and of escaping to a secluded spot in the garden or up on my favorite tree, with a good book. Though by no means autobiographical, Centre of the Labyrinth captures the world of my childhood, from the rolling acres of green pastures, and the towering mountain peaks, to the all-age elementary school system, hours of memorizing lines from British literature, and emulating British literary standards.

There was never a time in my life when I wasn't writing but the primary focus of my writing has changed with time. Now I write mainly inspirational fiction from a Christian worldview, and historical romance that capture the essence of Caribbean-American culture and the indomitable spirit of the Caribbean.

I write primarily for Caribbean readers in the Diaspora, incorporating aspects of our religious and cultural heritage that could so easily be lost to the next generation. Against this background my novels explore the universal themes of relationships, abiding love, faith, and hope to which readers everywhere can relate . . . . thus, giving my Jamaican stories international relevance.
