FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEW JERSEY-BASED JAMAICAN AUTHOR PUBLISHED SECOND NOVEL
(Roselle, New Jersey, February 2009)— In her compelling new romance novel, A Margin of Hope, Jamaican author, Rosetta J. Jamieson-Thomas, weaves together themes of love, faith and hope with harsh realities of the immigrant's struggles to realize the American dream. She portrays characters facing life's challenges, overcoming crisis, building Christ-centered relationships, and achieving the impossible through their faith in God.
A Margin of Hope begins with a scene set in Jamaican. The heroine, Vanessa Jones, a senior at the prestigious St. Francis Academy is preparing to enter an Ivy League college in America but she just has to meet the handsome and popular star cricket player, Moses "Hurricane" Richardson. They fall in love and Vanessa becomes pregnant. With his cricket-playing career at a high, Moses wants nothing to do with a baby. Vanessa's faith prevents her from having an abortion and when Moses walks away she must face motherhood alone. Seven years later, as an undocumented single mother in Florida, Vanessa struggles to remain true to her faith in God as she tries to make ends meet while raising their son, Andrew, who suffers from Autism.
Moses, now the owner of a successful Caribbean restaurant and bakery in New York, yearns for a relationship with the son he's never met. But neither he nor Vanessa is prepared for the emotional impact of their reunion and both must continue to cope with the frustrations of unfulfilled dreams. . . .
Moses read each journal entry over and over again and studied the photographs and copies of Andrew's drawings that Vanessa had scanned into the e-journal. Indeed, there was hope for Andrew as evidenced by the journal entries, but was there even a thin margin of hope for the three of them together as a family? Autism, love and marriage to Vanessa — how could these elements come together harmoniously in his life? He didn't have the answer and he couldn't envision it. (p.113)
Will Vanessa's faith sustain her as she faces Moses' rejection of their autistic son, the wrath of the other woman in Moses' life and the act of revenge that shatters their world?
